The detail of the engine and crankshaft are given below

The Inspection in detail was conducted of two numbers of the damaged crankpin. The excessive ovality in crankpin number 2 of 0.36 mm was observed. The crank pin no. five was also damaged and had deep depression and line marks. The inspection of hardness and crack detection were undertaken & were observed within limits.

RA Power Solutions used an onsite crankshaft grinding machine which can be placed & undertake the grinding of crankpins of small bearing length. In this case, the bearing length is only 71 mm. The crankpin nos 2 was undersized by 0.5 mm and no’s five was undersized by 1.0 mm & the final diameter was maintained at 151.00 mm.

The crankshaft after the repair was jointly inspected with the ship superintendent & chief engineer and all parameters were observed within limits. The engine has been assembled during the presence of technicians on board the vessel and is performing satisfactorily.
